About Prime Technology

The Precision Temperature, Pressure, Timing, and MEASUREMENT People

50+ years of success

Founded in 1973

Prime Technology is a privately owned company, originally founded in 1973 in Mount Vernon, New York. Since 1982, we have operated from a 36,000-square-foot facility on twelve acres in North Branford, Connecticut. Additionally, we maintain a 20,000-square-foot commercial manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic, which has been in operation since 1986. As we celebrate over 50 years of success and innovation, we reaffirm our commitment to our customers and take pride in the strong foundation that supports our continued growth.

In 2021, Prime Technology was acquired by Cox & Company, Inc., a 100% employee-owned organization. Cox, a global leader in providing in-flight ice protection and temperature control solutions for the aerospace industry, has been in operation for more than 80 years.

A History of Measurement

Prime Technology’s mission is to design and manufacture instruments and electronic systems through innovative engineering in order to surpass its customer’s needs and expectations. These are the principles that have guided the company’s growth from manufacturing wirewound resistors, resistor instruments, and measurement and indication equipment into integrated systems with broad applications. There are six divisions under the Prime Technology umbrella, each sharing the company’s vision.

We provide our customer base a resource that designs, develops and manufactures electronic systems to their individual requirements. We are uniquely able to provide this at an exceptional value by calling on our past technological successes to use as building blocks for future projects. Through the use of this existing technology, combined with our growing expertise in dealing with system-based projects, we can offer solutions at a reduced cost, faster schedule and with less risk.

We have a variety of extraordinary capabilities supporting our efforts to further expand into the electronic systems market. We have developed an outstanding engineering department with a considerable 3-D modeling and design capability. We have developed a vertical manufacturing operation, with the ability to perform a variety of manufacturing processes such as automated surface mount pick and place, through hole assembly, wire bonding, mechanical assembly, metal fabrication, secondary machining, painting, and marking. We adhere to a rigorous Quality Program that conforms to the Nuclear Power Issues Committee (NUPIC) 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR21. We also conform to MIL-I-45208 for inspection and MIL-STD-45662A for calibration.
